Basic Chart Analysis for Barack Obama

(NOTE: this is a new chart for Barack Obama, based on a different birth time than what was reported previously, and seems to this astrologer to be more correct than the Libra-rising chart).

Barack Obama’s chart shows a strong Ascendant, with both Jupiter and Saturn in Capricorn, a goal-oriented sign known for taking on responsibility and getting the job done. Both of his rising sign planets are in the nakshatra (lunar sign) of Uttara Ashada, the sign of the “latter victor”; ultimately he wins in the end. (note: John McCain’s natal Moon is also in this nakshatra).

The Moon is in the Earth sign Taurus, known for practicality, appreciation of the arts, an amiable temperament, and romantic. The Taurus Moon is what gives Mr. Obama the ability to maintain his composure in (nearly) all circumstances. The Moon is exalted in this sign, and in the 5^th house, makes him very attractive to the Public.

Mr. Obama is currently in his Jupiter dasa, a powerful period of hope and opportunity. The current sub-period is the Moon, which enjoys the trine aspect of benefic Jupiter. Thus the wonderful karma in this chart is now ‘turned on’, making him the favorite of the people.

Basic Chart Analysis for John McCain
Born: August 29, 1936, 18:25:00, Colon, Panama

(Note: This is a new chart for John McCain, and replaces the chart previously displayed on this website. It is based on his recently surfaced authentic birth certificate.)

John McCain’s chart shows that he is Aquarius-rising, with the ruler Saturn in the Ascendant. This makes his chart inherently strong.  Aquarius is a sign known for taking on social obligations and making sacrifices for the sake of group efforts.  Also known for having strong, fixed opinions, being idiosyncratic, and contrary. Since the rising degree is opposite to his natal Sun, he has problems with authority figures, including his own father.

 The Moon in this chart is opposed by Mars, giving Mr. McCain an irritable temperment and making him prone to rash actions. Mars occupies his 6^th house of Struggles and Health, indicating accidents and physical injuries. Although Mars in the 6^th house gives him difficulties and enemies in life, it also provides the ability to defeat his adversaries.

 Currently it is John McCain’s Mercury Dasa, which began for him at the end of 2006. Mercury is strong in its own sign Virgo in the 8^th house with the benefic planet Venus. Thus he enjoys much support from others.  But the 8^th house emphasis makes him prone to encounter obstruction and chronic difficulties.  Mercury has underlying weakness due to being debilitated in the navamsha chart (a derivative chart that shows inner qualities).

 Additionally, Mr McCain suffers at this time due to numerous malefic transits afflicting his natal chart: Saturn transits in his 7^th house, giving him a tough opponent (i.e., Mr. Obama), while Mars transits his 9^th house simultaneously opposite his natal Uranus and square to his natal Moon emphasizing his natural inclination towards rash actions. Ketu (the South Node, one of the eclipse points) is transiting his natal Mars, indicating loss through his actions and efforts. It is highly unlikely that he would prevail in the presidential contest.
